Ashtanga Pranayama
When we are born we breathe in and when we die we breathe out - in between these two breathes our life spans. the breath is the key to the the realm of tranquility, the sensation of deep power and the control of our nervous system. it is at the very heart of yoga and as guruji says: ‘ashtanga practice is a breathing practice ... the rest just bending’. there is no over-estimation of the positive effect of breathing in asana practice as well as daily life. the breath is the door between our body and our mind, the portal between meditation and asana practice and often the first step on the way to a more spiritual, soulful and happy life. Having established our bandhas firmly (in the friday evening workshop) you will learn breathing techniques for relaxation, rest and vigor. you will initiate you into simple ashtanga pranayama. All levels welcome.

How it all works
Integrating our breathing and bandhas while we practice is a mindfulness training. Maintaining the mind clear, still and focussed on the breath connection creates the right foundation for a healthy relationship between our intentions and our body as it taps us into an intuitive relationship with our natural boundaries and possibilities. With a detailed focus on standing asana, forward bending, and back bending, this session helps you establish your practice in a firm physical understanding of how to apply the yogic breathing while in motion (vinyasa). As your mind settle into one-pointed focus your body becomes your tool. Experience how this ancient tradition holds many life lessons. All levels welcome.

Arm balances for everyone
Break a sweat while learning to safely balance on your hands, have fun while challenging yourself and gain access to your own inner strength. The magic of the arm balance is demystified and made approachable so that every practitioner who is not afraid to put in the work can feel the beauty of flight. When done correctly arm balances can build self-esteem, increase energy flow and heal old injuries. Every student will leave with proven techniques to safely build the structural support necessary for stability in all strength based postures.

Understanding the Yoga Sutras: the spiritual journey of Asana
Yoga is a daily practice that demands our full devotion before we can begin to even scratch the surface of its deeper meaning as a lifelong spiritual path. Kino leads you through a discussion of key elements of the sacred, foundational text of yoga, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Rather than a historical account Kino integrates yoga philosophy with daily asana practice and modern life. Written more than 2,000 years ago the teaching of Patanjali is composed of 195 Sutras organized in four books and holds the essence of the eight-limbed path of Asthanga Yoga. By exploring the basis of physical yoga postures and methodology for spiritual learning in the Yoga Sutras you will delve deeper into the process of self-realization, the true intention of all hatha yoga.

Tim Feldmann is the co-founder and director of Miami Life Center. He was set on the yoga path by his teacher Lino Miele and is now Authorized to teach directly by the founder of the Ashtanga Yoga Method, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson, Sharath Rangaswami. A practioner of the third series he is dedicated to Ashtanga Yogas traditional style. Tim’s teaching integrates his extensive study of Alexander Technique and sitting meditation with 20 years of experience as a professional dancer and an internationally acclaimed choreographer. His in-depth knowledge of functional anatomy, alignment as well as the idiosyncratic body and mind in stillness and in motion creates the platform upon which his solid understanding of the Ashtanga method rests.
Tim is a cherished teacher giving retreats, workshops, classes and privates throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, often together with his love Kino.
Kino MacGregor is one of a select group of people to receive the certification to teach Ashtanga Yoga by its founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. The youngest woman to hold this title, she has completed the challenging Third Series and is now learning the Fourth Series with Guruji and Sharath. She is the founder of Miami Life Center, a space for Ashtanga yoga, holistic health and consciousness on Miami Beach, where she and her husband Tim Feldmann teach together. Both teaching locally on Miami Beach and traveling internationally, you will find her leading classes, privates, workshops, yoga conferences and retreats in traditional Ashtanga yoga and total life transformation.
